Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) has suddenly announced on Tuesday, to start service from Monday 16th November after one week ie 6 day

The 60 km journey from Pipri to Orangi Town will start on Monday 16th November and 4 trains allotted for the track will run on up and down tracks with 3, 3 hour intervals, first 16,000 and after upgrade 24,000 passengers will travel. The first train will leave Orangi Town station at 7 am followed by the second train at 10 am. The second train will leave at 10 o’clock in the morning.According to a press release eight up and down passenger trains will run daily, for which the maximum fare will be Rs50.

In the first phase, beginning Monday, November 16, trains from Pipri station will pass through Landhi, Malir, Drigh Road, Cantt, City, Kemari, Wazir Mansion, Lyari, Gulbai, Site, Shah Abdul Latif and Orangi stations.

Four trains of five bogeys each will run daily between Pipri and Orangi simultaneously at 7 am, 10 am, 1 pm and 4 pm.

According to the details of the progress made so far in the rehabilitation of Karachi Circular Railway project, in the first phase of Karachi Circular Railway, 12 km track from Karachi City Station to Manghopir has been restored while 14 km track to Orangi Station has been completed. Will be done which is in progress.

In the second phase, 7 km track from Orangi station to Gilani station (Gulshan-e-Iqbal) and in the third phase, 9 km track from Gilani station to Drug Colony will be restored.

According to the details released by Pakistan Railways, the 44 km KCR track has 20 stations and 24 gates out of which 30 km is on the loop line and 14 km on the main line. There are a total of 20 stations out of which 15 are on the loop line and 5 on the main line. ۔There are 24 level crossings on the entire track, out of which 15 level crossings will cost Rs. 150 million.Preparation of Karachi Circular Railway coaches is underway at Islamabad Carriage Factory, 7 are ready while 40 coaches will be ready by January, 64 seats for 96 passengers and 32 handhold bars for standing passengers have been installed in each coach.

In the first phase, 16,000 passengers will travel by 32 trains daily and the total distance will be covered in half an hour. After the upgrade, the number of trains will be 48 while the passenger capacity will be increased to 24,000 and the travel time will be reduced to 19 minutes. Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed visited the carriage factory in Islamabad and inspected the preparation of coaches. He told the media that 40 coaches are being made for the rehabilitation of Karachi Circular. So far 7 coaches have been made in the carriage factory. 40 coaches will be made in 3 months.

It should be noted that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued a contempt of court notice to the Sindh government and Pakistan Railways in the Karachi Circular Railway case. The apex court has issued contempt notice to the chief secretary Sindh and secretary railways and sought reasons in this regard.
